Great great post Rachel!

As usual, I'm not surprised by your excellent take on this subject, but I love the 'What do we need?' section the most. I'm also extremely grateful that I get to work for a company (Red Hat), which lives out most of your list. In fact, since a lot of the company's culture reflects that of the greater Open Source community, it's not that surprising.

No culture is perfect, but collaboration that is based on treating people like the highly-skilled professionals they are does usually win out in the end, not only for happy employees, but happy customers and other stakeholders.
